Ortholox® UHMWPE Spinal Posterior Fixation System (*)

  • Ortholox® UHMWPE Spinal Posterior Fixation System is manufactured from Medical Degree Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene material.

     

  • For Ortholox® UHMWPE Spinal Posterior Fixation System, very thin fibers are woven in the form of bands with a width of 3 mm (cervical) and 5 mm to form a multifilament material.
  •  

    • *By means of its wide cross section, it eliminates single-point stress.
    • *Pressure on lamina is distributed and thus decreased thanks to the wide surface of the band.
    • *By means of its wide surface, it is more reliable in osteoporotic bones when compared to pedicle screws or hooks.
    • *Each band has a load carrying capacity of over 1600 N. (8 bands=12800 N)
    • *Thanks to the blunt tip of the bendable titanium guide strip that pre-assembled at the end of the band, it does not damage the soft tissue, and does not pose a threat for the surgeon during the procedure.

      *It does not cause damage to lamina structure as the metal wires during and after surgery.  
    • *It is suitable for use in patients on whom the use of screws is risky and who have thin pedicle anatomy.

    • *Since it has tulips for use with rods of different diameters, it is compatible with almost all different titanium or CoCr posterior spinal screw-hook-rod systems existing at hospitals.

    • *It does not lead to complications resulting from tearing and breakage since it has a higher elastic modulus when compared to titanium or CoCr cables and sublaminar wires.
    • *Its flexible structure ensures a long-term dynamic compression.
    • *It has a high load carrying capacity.
    • *Since the bands are manufactured from UHMWPE material, they are radiolucent and thus, they do not cause artifact in post-operational MRI follow-up and the position of the vertebral column and the process for the union of the fracture, if any, can be followed-up more easily in the post-operational x-ray.

  • In Ortholox® UHMWPE Spinal Posterior Fixation System, thanks to the Tensioner, it is ensured that the rod is inserted into the tulip easily at the appropriate tension. It provides a simple, effective and easy-to-use surgery with only 5 instruments.
  •  

  • In Ortholox® UHMWPE Spinal Posterior Fixation System, a bendable titanium guide strip, tulips and set screws that are manufactured from highly biocompatible (TI-6AL-4V-ELI) alloy are available.
    • *It is MRI compatible.
    • *Once the set screw is tightened and fixed using a torque screwdriver, it does not loosen or unlock by itself. 
    • *During the procedure, the set screw can be loosened using a standard screwdriver in order to re-apply tension and thus OR time is shortened.
  • In Ortholox® UHMWPE Spinal Posterior Fixation System, dual bands with a width of 3mm and 5mm and a length of 250mm are available as preassembled with Titanium Guide Strip on one end and titanium tulip on the back end, and in ready-to use sterile packs in the following rod diameters:
    • *3.5mm (Band Width 3mm)
    • *4.5mm (Band Width 5mm)
    • *5.0mm (Band Width 5mm)
    • *5.5mm (Band Width 5mm)
